A recent study conducted in June 2009 showed that consumers prefer receiving information regarding promotions via email a rate of 3 to 1 above all other forms of communication [1].
Add to this, that preference in online social networking sites as the primary channel for communication has increased 7% in the past year (while instant messaging and direct mail has declined) [1], and you get a cost effective, easily segmented audience for direct eMarketing campaigns.
Using Email.
The eNewsletter system (see ‘dlc’s eNews System’ article for details) which dlc uses allows you to segment your subscription lists and target specific markets. Add to this the detailed feedback via the reporting section and you have an extremely cost effective means for communicating with your customers.
Step one is having a eNewsletter account. Step two is creating a page on your website that asks customers to supply there name in a form so you can track who has entered the promotion. Step three is sending out an email to your subscribers telling them about the promotion. It’s that easy.
Using Twitter
Twitter has grown in popularity at an astounding rate in the past year. Having a Twitter profile is the first step in using it as a means for communicating with the masses (see ‘What Can Twitter do For Your Business?’ article for details).
Again, the second step is creating a page on your website that has all the details of the promotion and a ‘click here to retweet’ button. You will be able to track who has retweeted your message via Twitter, so no need for a fancy form on the webpage!
Example | Canvas Charisma
Canvas Charisma came to dlc to get assistance in setting up social networking accounts for their business. After a two hour training session, they began to see the advantages of using OSNs as a way of communicating with the masses. dlc assisted them in setting up their Twitter promotional campaign where they are giving away a FREE canvas print, ready to hang. Check it out!
